정직한 정물

정직한 정물 전시는 사실적인 정물(靜物) 표현과는 색다르게, 작가의 마음이 담긴 사물이 정물(情物)이 된 김규태, 정경식 작가의 2인전입니다.

정경식 작가는 일상 사물의 관조를 통해 사물을 평면 위에 단순화합니다. 사물에서 마음을 얻었으나, 사물의 구체성은 사라지고 단순함 위에 정(靜)적인 정물의 풍경을 남깁니다. 그리고 이는 보는 이로 하여금 묵상의 시간을 음미하게 합니다.

김규태 작가는 점토에 만듦의 행위인 손자국을 남기며 용기(用器)를 제작합니다. 타래성형(윤적법) 혹은 코일링(coiling)이라 불리는 기법으로 도자의 형태를 만듭니다. 사용이 가능하게 만들어진 기물은 작가의 손끝 흔적을 그대로 남기며, 감정이 있는 정물(情物)로 변화됩니다.

두 작가의 각기 다른 방식으로 감각화 된 정물을 통해 ‘보는 것’ 이상의 미감과 감정을 느껴보시길 바랍니다.

The exhibition Straightforward Still Life is a two-person exhibition by artists JUNG Gyung Sik and KIM Gyutae, in which objects containing the artist's feelings become still lifes, as opposed to the realistic still life expressions.

JUNG Gyung Sik simplifies objects on painting through observation of everyday objects. He gains his heart from objects, but the specificity of objects disappears, leaving behind a still life on top of simplicity. And this allows the viewer to savor the time of meditation.

KIM Gyutae creates ceramic containers by leaving handprints, an act of creation, on clay. He creates the shape of the ceramics using coiling technique. The usable objects leave the traces of the artist’s fingertips, and are transformed into emotional still life.

We hope that you will feel aesthetics and emotions beyond ‘seeing’ through the sensory still life works of these two artists, JUNG Gyung Sik and KIM Gyutae.
